Hi there and welcome to Metal & Blum!

My name is Michelle Ritzen and I’m the artist behind the brand. I live with my husband and family next to Cibolo creek in a small Texas town called Selma on a plot of land that my grandfather used to farm.
I’m an artist and surface pattern designer who loves to create unique art with retro vibes and effortless style. I have always been enamored with color and endlessly curious about the world around me. I gained a vintage sensibility from my parents who introduced me to the music of the 70’s, antiquing, and a great love of historic homes.
I’m a collector of beautiful objects, a creator of whimsical works, and a dreamer who believes in designing work that makes our surroundings unique and vibrant. I love hiking, traveling, spending time in nature, and observing all of the wildlife on our property and the surrounding areas. These things have greatly influenced my visual vocabulary as a surface pattern designer.
When I’m not creating you can find me lost in a book, enjoying records, live music, or seeking out new adventures with my family and friends. I hope you fall in love with my vintage style and find a piece that makes you smile. Much peace and love!
Love,
Michelle
